I've thought that perhaps it wouldnt be a bad idea if I just post some of the countless sketches that I do. I reeeally shouldn't be posting completely finished works exclusively.
More of the Kommissar, and other crap here. Trying to come up with an interesting backstory for him. He'll have a few interesting abilities and disadvantages. And a bigass chainsaw thing. I know, its the 40k in me, what can I say?
Vomit in the sketch form is quite good. Especially from you
I like the way you draw expressions, also, the sooner you draw him owning someone with that chainsaw, unno, bastard sword thing, the better. That'd be fun for everyone, I think. Especially is you get as much of a kick out of drawing violence as I do.

the specific way you draw the eye and eye socket is fantastic, I also like the head design as well. I also like the tail positioning used when the character seems in motion or in pose. The expressions you use are also very well developed, I can tell its mostly thanks to the head structure as well. my favorite image is where one is jumping down at something/someone, holding what appears to be a quite large but not completely drawn sword. The body structure is also well done, and the way you position your character's chest is great.
Critique? That's tough, considering I'm still about a year or two's practice behind your skill level...
...but if I had to say SOMETHING, I'd recommend trying some variety with character design. You're truly analogous to Captain Price and badass vocal tones when it comes to the highly intelligent, slightly deviant characters. I look around your gallery and it's full of tough guys ready to kick ass and hand out one-liners. All I'm saying is I'd like to see some more variation in your work. Work on some dopey types, perhaps a few who are less likely to use a silencer to deliver a swift killing blow, and a few who are more likely to try to rip the whole joint down bare-handed, because it's all they know.
I hope I'm making sense, Kinyaf. Regardless, keep up the awesome work. It's always fun to see your name on the "new deviations" list.

Well, I dunno if you are asking that I do more of the sort of barbarian style characters, or if you're implying that Kommissar isn't one, cause a lot of these drawings were intended to show that he kinda has that side to him, (which perhaps shows that I'm not drawing him crazy enough).
As a background for the character - which I should eventually put in formal writing on an improved character sheet or something - Commissar K is actually supposed to be a bit mentally insane. I could give a full explanation as to why, but to put it simply, he is known to be fairly intelligent with the occasional quirkiness when in a subdued calm atmosphere, but can become extremely irrational and aggressive in situations of a more alarming nature.
It actually has to do with his biology, but the end result is that he behaves much so like a fanatical political officer. That and you can see theres a number of large chain-sword looking devices in those sketches. It aint 40k, but when I complete a finalized design for that, you will probably agree that it warrants a character thats at least a little crazy.
Thanks for the critiquin' by the way. Like I mentioned before, art discussions get my brain in art mode, and thats what I need.

I love the way you seem to be able to just pump out quick, breif sketches of your character on a whim. It's something I've been working towards lately.
That, and figuring out how to do a nice proper range of expressions... God, I can't seem to get past that one quite yet.
I was actually wondering a lot about those eyes. I've been tryin a whole lot to find an eye design that I found to be interesting to look at, that allowed for character and personality, and that was just a little unique. I wasnt sure if I was doing all that correctly, and I think its because I've been working on the designs for those eyes for so long that I've lost my perspective on the whole thing. Good to hear I've figured out a look here that looks good.
Hes a frill-necked lizard, if ya didnt know by the way. Not sure if I mentioned that yet.

Well, before I do that (at least in anything other than the form of rough featureless sketches) I want to come up with a set mechanical design for that weapon of his. I really want to draw him with some continuity, and that also goes for the design of his chainsword thing there. Actually, I'm thinking about making a 3D model of the thing in Maya, cause it just seems more manageable and useable to make a reference that way. It might be a while, but I definitely wanna do that.
